THE 13th round of the WOR Premiership series was unlucky, but only in terms of the weather. Set in the superb Llandrillo Forest, the course was battered overnight and early on Sunday morning by torrential rain and strong winds, which gave organiser Steve Ireland plenty to think about. |

GRAHAM Jarvis, riding his first trial since he won the event last year, pulled-off a sensational ninth victory in the world-famous Scott Time and Observation Trial on Saturday, staged in incessant rain and mist on the Yorkshire moors above Richmond. The Sherco rider overcame the disadvantage of 14 time marks, the legacy of having to stop and remove the carburettor in order to clean-out a piece of muck lodged in the jets, with a superb observation score of just 22 marks dropped in the 76 sections scattered around the 80-mile course. |

Naturally, after Weston, I feel I’ve had a bad year, but for the family of young Ty Kellett, who is still recovering from his injuries sustained at Weston, it is far worse, and it is for them at this time that I reserve my sincerest sentiments.

HIS year’s annual Motul and Suso sponsored BYMX Team event was held at the pristine track at Norley in Cheshire, and what a great meeting it was, as 13 teams from all over the UK and Ireland set about winning this coveted title. The organisers, the Cheshire North West club, had done an excellent job on the track and was all prepared for a hectic weekend of racing. |

IT was a case of seventh time lucky for James Dabill who finally won a closely-fought Lakes Two-Day National Trial at the weekend when it was once again based in the Cumbrian village of Broughton-in-Furness. “That’s because you’ve never ridden a Gas Gas in the Lakes before!” pointed-out John Shirt when Dibs’ victory was confirmed on Sunday afternoon. |

THE main Weston Beach Race, the biggest single event in the British off-road calendar, was halted and eventually cancelled last Sunday following a multi-rider crash on the main straight soon after the start as around 800 machines thundered away from the line. As the leaders, led by Shaun Simpson, sped down the straight towards the opening dunes, totally oblivious to what was happening behind them, marshals and medics were rushing to to the aid of those caught-up in the melee. |

THE future of the Weston Beach Race, the biggest off-road event in the UK, currently hangs in the balance following the announcement on Tuesday afternoon that this year’s cancelled main event will NOT be re-run. Organiser Gareth Hockey of RHL, had been locked in talks with the local authorities and all relevant parties, in an attempt to re-stage the race this coming Sunday - but were ultimately thwarted by the medical services who stated that they could not provide the required cover at such short notice. |

SATURDAY saw the first of the Youth classes take to the deep sand dunes, with glorious sunshine, and some classic battles were had in the Doodson Insurance backed Junior 65cc class. From the start, which had been narrowed due to the tide being held in by the wind, David Keet hit the front as favourite Conrad Mewse took the wrong channel and had to get back into the race further down the long straight |
